The Piglet Mindset: Featuring Piglet the Deaf/Blind Pink Puppy!

Saturday, February 19, 2022 @ 2:00 PM

Ages 18 & over.

Meet Piglet in Person!

Meet Piglet in person!
About this event
When Connecticut veterinarian Melissa Shapiro gets a call about a tiny deaf-blind puppy rescued from a hoarding situation in need of fostering, she doesn’t hesitate to say, “yes.” Little does she know how that decision will transform her, her family, and legions of admirers destined to embrace the saga of the indomitable pink pup.

Curious, engaged, and incredibly eager to learn, Piglet quickly became part of the family. What started out as a few simple Facebook posts of Piglet and his pack rapidly evolved into a global celebration of Piglet’s infectiously positive mindset. Piglet: The Unexpected Story of a Deaf, Blind, Pink Puppy and His Family fully illustrates this heartwarming story of one special little puppy with a purpose to teach the power of empathy, love, and kindness. Join us to meet Piglet in person!

Melissa Shapiro, DVM, is a veterinarian and a lifelong animal welfare advocate.

Her nonprofit organization, Piglet International Inc., supports the Piglet Mindset Educational Outreach. She lives in Connecticut with her husband Warren, six rescued dogs, three rescued birds, and Piglet, the deaf-blind pink puppy.

Blood Drive

Blood Drive
February 26 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

What if 2022 was the year you made real changes, like helping someone who needs blood? Be part of saving millions of lives each year by giving the ultimate life-saving element.

Please roll up your sleeve!!! Blood supply is even more short during the colder winter months. The need is real. And more people are being hospitalized than usual due to Covid!

We are hosting this drive in memory of Colin McFadden. Colin was a volunteer EMT, firefighter and CERT member. He gave his time to others, always being the first to step up to any cause. Colin passed away from complications of a medical emergency he suffered during a fire this summer. While the doctors were treating Colin, it was discovered that he had leukemia. Colin needed emergency blood supply.

The blood drive will be held on 2/26/22 at West Bristol School from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Please sign up at www.redcrossblood.org and use BCERT as the code.

Doing things to assist others helps to reduces stress. Resolve to lower stress in 2022 by donating a lifesaving pint of blood.

Make a difference in someone’s life by supporting the collection of lifesaving blood, the impact is real.

Bookish Bake Club: Spice Challenge

6:00 - 7:00 PM
Online via ZOOM

Join us for this virtual spice challenge. We will provide registrants with a surprise spice. Find a recipe using this spice and prepare it at home. Then join us on Zoom with other food enthusiasts to talk about what you made, what else you’d like to try, and what you thought of the spice. We’ll have various spice cookbooks available at the library, or you may go online to find your recipe. Register online or by calling the library. Then stop by and pick up the surprise spice. (If you are unable to pick up the spice, please call the library and we will let you know what to buy.)
