Bristol resident Amaris Estrada has been hired as the new assistant to the superintendent of Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services, BPRYCS announced in a release today.

Estrada brings a variety of administrative experience to BPRYCS, most recently having worked with Thomaston Savings Bank and Encore Fire Protection where she processed financial transactions, managed accounts, developed clerical documents, and communicated regularly with the public to resolve problems and create positive customer experiences.

Estrada has also worked as a paraeducator in the Bristol Public School System and has taken formal college courses in social work that align with the mission of BPRYCS.

In her role as assistant to the superintendent, Estrada will oversee a variety of administrative functions for the department including payroll, payables/receivables, grant and budgetary assistance, program registration and customer service.

In addition, the assistant to the superintendent provides administrative support to the superintendent and division supervisors and serves as staff liaison to the Board of Park Commissioners, Youth Commission and City Arts and Culture Commission.

“Amaris comes to us with a significant amount of relevant experience for this role, but what stood out the most was her positive, outgoing and infectious personality,” said Superintendent Dr. Josh Medeiros in the the announcement. “I believe she will fit in perfect with our professional team and both board members and the public are going to love her.”

Estrada begins in her new position on Monday, Feb. 26.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
