Sen. Henri Martin and Rep. Francis Rexford Cooley applauded the bipartisan decision Wednesday to allocate $13.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to home heating energy assistance programs. However, they say while this is a step in the right direction, more assistance is needed.
The emergency extension measure will allocate $10 million in ARPA funds to the LIHEAP program, which is the state’s primary winter heating assistance service, and $3.5 million to Operation Fuel.
