BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH) — Bristol police removed guns and ammunition from a 62-year-old’s home on Sunday after he allegedly waved a gun out his window at a woman.

“The Bristol Police Department understand the fear incidences such as this cause for our community,” the agency wrote in an announcement. “Our officers quickly responded to this complaint and made sure that the suspect was not only held accountable but that we removed his firearms, ammunition and permit from his home to prevent him from these acts in the future.”

James Ferro, Jr., 62, has been charged with first-degree threating, second-degree breach of peace, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition to the guns, police said Ferro also had crack cocaine in his home.

Police were called to the home on Woodland Street after he yelled and waved the gun at a woman who was filming his home from the sidewalk, according to officers. The woman said that Ferro had been threatening people who live nearby when they passed by his house, and that the she was trying to see how many surveillance cameras were on the home.

He was released after posting a $100,000 surety bond.
