Local libraries celebrate National Library Week

The Bristol Public Library and Manross Memorial Libraries are celebrating National Library Week, April 7-13, with a variety of programs and participation in Passport to Connecticut Libraries 2024.

On Monday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m. “The Story of Public Libraries” will be presented at the Bristol Public Library. Presenter will be John Cilio of Vintage Flyer Media and the talk will cover how America built its library system with a focus on Connecticut, Also, on Monday, at Manross, the last of the Monday Fundays Drop In will be held.

On Tuesday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m. a special author chat with Jordan Lopez will be held at the Bristol Public Library. Lopez is the author of “Looked Down Upon: The Exiled Kin.”

On Wednesday, April 10, at 1 p.m. there will be a Barbie Party & Movie.

On Thursday, April 11, at 1:30 p.m. award-winning young adult author Rajani LaRocca will speak, answer questions and sign books at the Bristol Public Library.

On Friday, April 12, at 2 p.m. local author and illustrator Bill Thomson will speak.

Library workers will be celebrated on National Library Workers Day on Tuesday, April 9.

Throughout April, both local libraries will be participating in Passport to Connecticut Libraries 2024. If library cardholders, visit at least five (5) participating libraries and return an official “passport” to a participating library by May 10, they will be entered into a state-wide drawing for a chance to win a $200 Visa gift card for adults (18 and up) and a $200 Visa gift card for children (under 18).

Four winners will be selected: one adult and one child from a random drawing from all returned Passports with at least five separate library stamps, and the one adult and one child who visited the most libraries/received the most stamps.

  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.                
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.
