Comedian Robin Reiser will be guest speaker at the 23rd Annual Wonder of Women (WOW) event to be held Wednesday, May 1, at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.

“I am thrilled and honored to be the guest speaker for such a wonderful and impactful organization,” Reiser said, in the press release announcing the event. “Also, I hear the food will be pretty great too!”

A comedian, writer, storyteller and speaker, Reiser has appeared on NBC, E! and the Oxygen network. She has written for stage and screen; and her storytelling can be heard on many podcasts, including “Risk” and “The Only One in the Room.”

Reiser wrote and plays all the roles in the web series, “Pink Eye” and was an audience favorite on “Last Comic Standing” and at the Sundance Film Festival. After 20 years in Los Angeles, Reiser has returned to the Northeast to be closer to her parents and raise her son with seasons.

The May 1 event starts at 5:30 p.m. Seats are $65 per person and can be purchased today by sending payment via check to Main Street Community Foundation, P.O. Box 2702, Bristol, CT 06010.

WOW is an annual event whose proceeds support grants for programs that make it possible for women and girls in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington, and Wolcott to improve the conditions and opportunities in their lives.

Through WOW, MSCF has awarded $780,000 in grants and immediate response funds from the Women & Girls Fund since its establishment in 2001 as a community-based endowment.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
