James A. August

James “Jim” Albert August, 81, of Bristol, formerly of Simsbury, beloved husband Linda (Bachand) August, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 at UConn John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Jim was born on June 19, 1942 in Hartford, CT and was a son of the late Albert R. and Theona (Strong) August. He was raised in Simsbury where he graduated from Simsbury High School in 1960. Jim was active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 thru 1964. After his time in the service, he went to work for IBM where he retired from after 53 years of service. Jim loved going to car shows to see old cars and air shows where he could view the different types of aircraft’s. He was an avid walker, and loved nature. He always put his family first and loved them very much. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Todd August of Alabama; two granddaughters: Iceolene August and Topanga Spears of Alabama; four great grandchildren: Abigail, Samantha, Steele and Aisley of Alabama; two brothers: Larry August of Canton and Mike August of Colorado; a sister Sharyn Biringer of Florida; many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his first wife Janice August. 

The visiting hour will be on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol, from 10 to 11 AM.  A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11 AM.  Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, 33 Queen St., Southington.
