Edward Earl Pelkey, 90 of Bristol, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024. He was born on May 17, 1933 in Southington, son of the late Cornelus and Irene A. (Berth) Pelkey.
Edward was the loving husband of the late Frances (Kolibczynski) Pelkey for 51 years before her passing in 2008. He was a Korean Veteran in the US Army, receiving the Home Town Hero Award for Bristol and was a member at the American Legion Post 2 and Bristol Historical Club. Edward took photos all around Bristol for the Bristol Press, Chamber of Commerce and The Bristol Historical Society. He even received multiple keys to the City of Bristol for his outstanding photos that were taken for the city.
Edward is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Pelkey Day and her husband Dwight of VT, Barbara Pelkey Gardner and her husband TY of Terryville; son William Pelkey and his wife Debra of Bristol; grandchildren Nicole Day of VT ,Megan Day Kathan and her husband Dakota of VT, Robert Pelkey of Bristol; step-grandson Tony; sister Blanche Pelkey Failor of NE; son-in-law Frederick Yeski of Plainville; a great-grandson on the way and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, Edward is predeceased by his daughter Irene Pelkey Yeski; twin brother William Pelkey and sisters Mary Kania, Julia Pelkey Lis and Mildred Pelkey Lozewski.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 5PM until 7PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave. Bristol. A burial will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 directly at St. Joseph Cemetery, 522 Terryville Ave., Bristol at 11AM.
