Lorraine Sanada Obituary

Lorraine M. Sanada, 90 of Bristol, devoted wife of 69 years to Joseph Sanada Jr. and cherished mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on February 17, 2024 at Bristol Hospital surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She is now reunited with her loved ones who have passed on before her, rejoicing in the presence of her beloved son, Joseph Sanada III, who predeceased her in 2001.

Lorraine was born on August 17, 1933 in Newark, New Jersey and embraced each day with gratitude and a positive outlook. Lorraine was a pillar of strength and faith within her family, community, and church, known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to her Catholic beliefs. She prayed the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy daily, along with impromptu prayers for her family and friends, keeping her spirituality evident. Lorraine was a faithful communicant of the Church of Saint Matthew for many years and appreciated every Mass she attended.

Lorraine's family was the center of her world and she cherished every moment spent with them. She found joy in seeing her loved ones happy, especially during Christmas morning when they would gather to open presents together. She was known for sometimes sneaking a peek, but the greatest gift of all was always that family was together. She relished in time spent with family, from simple visits with her daughters, son, and granddaughters over the years to many unforgettable lobster dinners shared together. A seafood lover with an appreciation for the ocean, Lorraine treasured trips down to the shore to Mystic, Harkness, and especially Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale Restaurant for her favorite fried whole belly clams.

Lorraine touched the lives of all who knew her with her warm smile, love for puzzles, movies, and board games, where she was always the reigning champion of Masterpiece. Her passion for gardening and landscaping adorned her surroundings with beautiful flowers, mirroring the beauty and love she brought into the lives of her family. She was known for her exceptional baking skills, particularly her famous apple pie that her family always enjoyed.

In addition to her husband, Joseph Sanada Jr., Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Laura Sanada and Mary Ann Perruzzi and her husband, Paul; her granddaughters, Brianna Lucas, Emily Myslenski, and Ashley Sanada; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Senland; and her sister, Sr. Mary Ann of New Britain. In addition to her son, Joseph Sanada III, Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Alphonse and Monika and her sister, Irene Provost and her husband, Richard.

Lorraine’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Bristol Hospital for their love and compassion provided to Lorraine and the entire family during her final days.
