Justin Segal Obituary

Justin Nathan Segal, 35, died on March 20th, 2024, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was a remarkable family man with great intellect, strength, and love. Born July 15, 1988, in Florida, Justin was the eldest son of David and Jaynie Segal (Leiderman).

Justin graduated from Charlotte Latin (North Carolina) where he excelled academically and was a naturally gifted athlete, participating in track and football. As a drummer he was also a member of the band and percussion ensemble. Due to his talent, he was selected as an extra in the 2008 film “Leatherheads” starring George Clooney. He later attended College of Charleston before transferring to North Carolina State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, and Information Technology.

After holding positions in manufacturing and procurement working for Lenovo, Justin moved from North Carolina to Connecticut in 2015 joining the family business Edward Segal Inc. Shortly thereafter he met his beloved wife of 6 and a half years, Rachel, and made a home in Bristol raising their cherished daughters, Nora, and Adeline. He called fatherhood his greatest achievement.

It was often said that meeting Justin was like meeting an old friend. His smile would light up a room and his cackling laugh was infectious to the point of tears. He was dedicated to his family and friends. He loved spending time with them. His friends were like brothers, and he had the great fortune of having these brothers at his side from childhood through adulthood. As an avid golfer, Justin played and won countless tournaments alongside his father. He additionally participated in and won several Spartan races and even the World’s Toughest Mudder. He will be fondly missed.

Predeceased by his grandparents, Ralph and Doris Leiderman, Mr. Segal is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel (Selavka) Segal, his adored daughters, Nora Segal and Adeline Segal; his mother, Jaynie Segal; his father, David Segal and his stepmother, Leslie; his grandparents, Richard Segal and Maxine; his in-laws, Jonathan Selavka and Donnalynn; his brother, Jacob Segal and his partner, Karlee Adams; his brother-in-law, Alan Selavka; his sister-in-law, Natalie Selavka; and his niece and nephews, Jackson Selavka, Emma Segal, and Arlo Segal.

Justin’s family would like to thank the Bristol Hospital hospice team for going above and beyond, providing incredible love and exceptional care to Justin and his family during his stay.
