Museum After Hours: Jewish Carvers

Museum After Hours: Jewish Carvers
Thursday, September 7
6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
at the Carousel Museum
95 Riverside Ave

Join scholars and experts as we learn about the art and history of carousels, their carvers, the artists, and your favorite carousels. Museum After Hours will be held from 6:30-7:30 PM with a wine and cheese reception taking place 6:00-6:30 PM. Admission to this series is included with general admission, and as always museum members are free.

Thursday, September 7: Jewish Carvers
with Woodcarver/ Restorer/ Instructor Bob Yorburg
Woodcarver and historian, Bob Yorburg, will guide you through a photographic journey into the workshops of some of the most brilliant carvers imaginable.

Experience the flamboyant style of carousel and architectural carving created by the Jewish immigrant carvers at the turn of the 20th century. Marcus Charles Illions, Charles Carmel along with Solomon Stein & Harry Goldstein raised the art of carousel carving to a new level. Their realism and extraordinary ornamentation defined the Coney Island style of carousel carving.

The art of the carousel carvers extends beyond amusement rides into the historic synagogues of Brooklyn. These beautiful architectural carvings reflect the designs of the carousels.

The tour ends with a live woodcarving demonstration revealing the time honored techniques used to create these magnificent menageries and glorious architectural features.

Dr. Steve Piechota: a free consultation
Date: Saturday, September 16, 2017 (Event Views: 1,429)

This Saturday, September 16, 2017 is an opportunity to meet Dr. Steve Piechota and have a free consultation at
Medical Arts Health & Nutrition Center,
140 Pine Street,
Bristol CT
phone: 860-584-5071.

Dr. Stephen Piechota, Pharm D., CNC, received his B.S. from University of Connecticut School of Pharmacology, and his Doctorate of Clinical Therapeutics Degree from Idaho State University. He practiced pharmaceutical medicine for 40 years before he retired from that profession to pursue his dream of bringing real healthcare and enlightenment to his fellow-man. To further his knowledge in the art of holistic healing, Dr. Steve has taken comprehensive training in clinical nutrition and naturopathic medicine, as well as read and studied countless books on the subject. He is fervent in his belief in serving the highest of principles, truth and God, and is totally dedicated to provide healthcare to his fellow-man.
Dr. Steve, as his patients like to call him, is the creator of the Medical Arts Health & Nutrition Centers, and the concept known as "Via Nova". Via Nova literally means "A New Way", and in this case, a new way to better health. We promote a guided self-care system which seeks to integrate conventional, allopathic medicine with several alternative disciplines, e.g.: clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, ayurvedic and oriental medicine.
