Moon Landing Celebration at Imagine Nation  (31,082 Views)


Imagine Nation, A Museum Early Learning Center, located at One Pleasant Street in Bristol will host a day of special workshops and fun on Tuesday, July 23rd from 10am-3pm to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing.

Enjoy a day of moon-tastic workshops, learn about the moon, and watch moon landing video while designing your own moon cookie!

Moon Landing Workshops:
10:30am: Create Moon Crater Art in the Art Studio
11:30am: Plant your Flag on the Moon!
1:30pm: Make a Moon Travel Poster
2:30pm: Hide and Seek Moon

The Imagine Café will be open for lunch and snacks from 11am-4pm. Workshops are included with museum studio admission, $10.00 per person ages 1+, FREE for members.

Bristol Parks and Recreation department, with sponsorship from a variety of community agencies will be holding an 8 week “Rockin Out at Rockwell- Summer Concert Series”. The free concerts are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00- 8:30 pm at the Rockwell Park Amphitheatre starting June 25th-August 20th.
We invite families and people of all ages to come out and enjoy the wide variety of music offered each week ranging from country, swing, Pop and so much more! There are plenty of seats at the amphitheater but we encourage you to bring lawn chairs, a blanket and snacks to enjoy a picnic in the park to the backdrop of amazing bands. Please note: Alcohol is not permitted in the parks.

Stars Science Theater: The Starry Messenger!

Galileo Galilei turned his telescope to the heavens to discover mountains and craters on the moon, four of Jupiter’s moons and countless stars never before seen. The Starry Messenger is a dramatic fun filled adaptation of Galileo's short treatise Siderius Nuncius. Galileo (dressed in 17th century costume) his most recent discoveries, made using his newly devised spyglass. As he describes those discoveries, Galileo's new methods become apparent. Throughout the presentation the audience is actively involved .

About the Performer: Mike Francis brings astronomy to life with his Stars Science Theater. A Physical Science and Physics teacher and lecturer for ten years at the Charles Hayden Planetarium at Boston’s Museum of Science, Mike combines the science of Astronomy with the dramatic skills of an actor.

YOGA AFTER LUNCH RETURNS to the Children’s Department at the Bristol Public Library

The Children’s Department at the Bristol Public Library welcomes “Ready, Set, Yoga!” back for another exciting summer of “yoga after lunch”! The series is generously sponsored by the BRISTOL ROTARY CLUB, and will run for five weeks.
Please join us on Mondays: July 1, July 8, July 15, July 29, and Monday, August 5, 2019 1:45 p.m.-2:15 p.m.

Our YOGA LEADER is Jennifer Drechsler from “Ready, Set, Yoga!” Please visit www.readysetyogact.com to find out more about yoga and mindfulness for children.
During each session at the library, children will learn: why we practice yoga & it's benefits; how to use breathing techniques known as pranayama to help calm and focus; different poses or asanas to improve flexibility and posture; ways to be present in the moment or mindfulness; how to meditate using words or mantras, or with deep relaxation using guided imagery, called the Secret Garden; and how to reach out to others in our world to make it a better place - karma yoga. Registration is NOT required, just come to the library and enjoy the free fun. All children receive a summer reading raffle ticket for participating in “Yoga after Lunch!”
Visit the Children’s Department at the Bristol Public Library on Mondays in July, and one in August at 1:45 p.m.-2:15 p.m. to be relaxed, mindful, and ready to read and learn.
